So you might be asking what the purpose of this app is?

Well MY purpose of this app was to be sure NO ONE could
EVER change the Xbox Nickname.xbn with any game. Well
in theory, it can be, however everytime you reboot your
xbox, this app loads before the dashboard, which in favor
reloads a nice backup of your nickname.xbn each time :-) .

This app can be used in many ways, so I'll explain a few
different methods of use in the setup section.

Setup Notes :

You have a few options on how to use this application.

1 ) Have it load before a dashboard.
2 ) Run anytime you wish.

For option 1
------------

Whatever dashboard your bios starts up with, should be the
name of the xnick.xbe application . So for example, if your
dashboard is avalaunch and the bios looks for avalaunch.xbe
at bootup, you must do the following.

- Rename the avalaunch.xbe to xboxdash.xbe (and rename anything
  else namead xboxdash.xbe)
- Next take the xnick.xbe application and rename it to avalaunch.xbe
- Make a copy of the nickname.xbn in your /E/Udata/nickname.xbn and
then back it up as nickname.xbn.bak and send back to the same directory
  where the nickname.xbn file is.

Once you start up your xbox without a disc or anything, the xnick app
will load, and then your dashboard will load right after.

For option 2
------------

This option is useless depending on the dash you are using, however might
be useful if you are using a dash that doesn't have an option to change
the nickname.xbn file within.

- Place the xnick.xbe anywhere you can link it into apps
- Make a copy of the nickname.xbn in your /E/Udata/nickname.xbn and
then back it up as nickname.xbn.bak and send back to the same directory
  where the nickname.xbn file is.

Other Notes
---------------

Kind of funny, I found this recent app on Xbox-Scene.com , it makes nickname.xbn
files for you. Come on xbox-scene.com link it up locally ;-) , makes a good side
app for mine.

Anyways, an update should occur to XNick, unless someone beats me to the punch ;-p
(hint hint, implement it into a dashboard if it hasn't been done already!).
The update should consist of allowing you to change the xboxdash and nickname settings.
The nickname.xbn shall be directly accessed and written on so the file won't be deleted
and no need to send anything but the xnick.xbe and xnick.ini over ;-) .

This code was released for educational purposes anyways (source code comes dandy
to mount, unmount the partitions and deleting and copying files ;-), so give it
a glance if you are interested in how those functions work ). I'm fairly interested
in making a way to lock down save game files too, somehow.
